Puts nomination out of Sanders’ reach
Decisive victories were handed to former Vice President Joe Biden by the Democrat voters of Florida, Illinois and Arizona in Tuesday’s primaries.
The former vice president won all three states by a sufficient enough margin that puts the nomination out of the reach of Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders. Biden now has a majority of all delegates pledged so far, and more than half of the almost 2,000 he needs to secure his party’s nomination at its national convention this summer.
In his victory remarks, he said, “To the young voters who have been inspired by Senator Sanders, I hear you. I know what’s at stake. I know what we have to do. Our goal as a campaign and my goal as a candidate for president is to unify this party and then to unify the nation.”
